Go for Broke: Senyuu

Thanks to the magic of scheduling, I’m posting this while I’m writing an exam. Aren’t I amazing?

Senyuu isn’t a hard anime to summarize, it’s even pretty typical. It’s about a hero and a knight who have been tasked with killing the King of demons. And then stuff happens. Funny stuff happens.

The Severing Crime Edge: So I Heard You Like Hair…

Hair. Everyone has it, but I’m pretty sure no one’s ever appreciated it as much as Kiri Haimura whose family’s decision to go to a salon versus young Kiri might as well be one of the most traumatizing things to happen to him during his childhood. The guy really loves his hair, especially when it comes to cutting it, and when I say that, I mean he’ll stand around, panting slightly as he caresses the lengthy locks of a girl he just met. That right there is basically the majority of the episode, minus the panting. Okay, okay, so there may actually be more to the episode besides that, but I’m sure what most people will remember after their screens darken is Kiri’s hair fetishism. Continue Reading »

This Is How You Can Watch Anime Legally in 2013

By , Filed in: Anime

Lots of talking

Consider this to be some sort of a spin-off post. Surely if anime and manga franchises have spin-offs, then I can surely write a spin-off too! But let’s just say this is targeted to the anime crowd, so only anime related places will be on the list. Why? Because reasons. This is basically where you can get your anime legally, and for the most part, for free. But watch as I change things up from how I did the old post that included these websites, and include some new stuff. Please feel free to voice your concerns about said places again (because of course we can do that) and new places, ask questions about the services (ex. How does Crunchyroll play on Xbox Live and PS3?), or whatever else you feel you have to say about them. Now, let’s get started!

(Ok before that, a major thanks to Gina of Anime Picks, Naru who sometimes writes for me and blogger of What is This “Culture” You Speak of?, and Iso of Nabe!! for information on their respective countries’ legal alternatives.)

Update 2: Thanks to @ShiroiHane for the listing of three more legal sites (Wat TV (FR), Madman (AU), Anime on Demand (Germany)). But it needs some more info.

Update 3: @GlitchyMoo has provided info on Madman Entertainment.

Sukitte Ii na yo 09 – Missing the Point

By , Filed in: Sukitte li na yo

Suki-tte li na yo

While previous episodes have focused on the problems that Mei and Yamato face with the appearance of Megumi and Yamato’s increasing popularity as a model, this week’s Sukitte Ii na yo takes a slightly different approach. Up to this point Mei has been dealing with a substantial inferiority complex along with the emotional and psychological baggage of her past. The appearance of Megumi prompts Mei to question her position with Yamato, almost convincing herself that she never had any business falling in love with Yamato in the first place. For his part, Yamato is portrayed to be as naïve and new to love as Mei; his willingness to help others, along with his general attitude further exacerbates an already tense situation. As Mei and Yamato grow further apart, kicking themselves about what they did or didn’t do, what they said or wanted to say, we began to see how alike these two characters are. Mei and Yamato initially appear as polar opposites with Yamato’s popularity portrayed in stark contrast to the almost invisible nature of Mei. Partly because of this Mei continued to back herself into a corner, blaming herself for allowing Yamato to model and get close to Megumi. Continue Reading »
