Go for Broke: Senyuu

Thanks to the magic of scheduling, I’m posting this while I’m writing an exam. Aren’t I amazing?

Senyuu isn’t a hard anime to summarize, it’s even pretty typical. It’s about a hero and a knight who have been tasked with killing the King of demons. And then stuff happens. Funny stuff happens.

Go for Broke: Heartcatch Precure!

A surprising review for me, I knew I was ready to watch pretty much everything just because I’m too curious (as I already told you, I may be Chitanda) but Precure was the last thing I thought I’d watch. Well, turned out I was wrong.

I don’t think many of you are so completely new to the Precure franchise that they’d need a summary, I mean, it’s the kind of thing that’s pretty simple and every new installment of Precure is similar to the one that came before. But just in case, here you go. Heartcatch Precure is an anime about a young girl named Tsubomi. She’s shy and weak and obviously one day, it happens that a cute fairy discovers she’s actually a Precure, a magical girl born to protect the Heart Tree from the Desert Messengers who tries to transform the Earth into a desert by stealing people’s Heart Flowers. Will Tsubomi and her Precure friends be able to save the world from those bad people?

Go for Broke: Nijiiro Hotaru: Eien no Natsuyasumi

Hello! Today I reassured my boss about how anime aren’t bad for children. You should be proud of me!

With such a title you’d think that the story is pretty complicated, however, it’s not the case, this movie has a pretty basic plot. A young boy named Yuuta is facing the death of his father and as a way of cooping visit a place where he has happy memories with him. Suddenly a thunderstorm breaks out, he falls and looses consciousness. When he wakes up, he’s suddenly 30 years earlier.

Go for Broke: Hyouge Mono

Go4Broke_008

Sorry guys for last week. Since it was suddenly summer (we’re back in winter again though, never take anything for granted it seems) I suddenly got a lot of “urgent” work to do. (Urgent as in “should have been done yesterday” urgent. People these days…)

Today I am going to review something a bit strange, or at least unusual: it’s an anime called Hyouge Mono. It takes place during the Sengoku era, in Japan, and revolves around a man named Sasuke Furuta. This man is a bit peculiar, as he is both a warrior and an aesthete, he just can’t help but love beautiful things and it sometimes puts him in some difficult positions. Continue Reading »

Go for Broke: Asura

Talking a little break in the first episodes reviews, though I’m not sure you can count a movie review as a break. I’m coming back to review Asura. Remember, I said I wanted to do it last week?

Asura is a movie set in medieval Japan. It follows the story of a little boy who’s had to fight to survive, and in this struggle he was helped by a monk and that monk named him Asura. Unfortunately, the boy doesn’t really know how to deal with other people and one day, when he was wandering in the forest, he killed the son of the local Lord.

Go for Broke: Little Witch Academia

Hello everyone! Happy Easter! And happy “Spring” (can’t really say it’s spring when it snowed two days ago).

The story of the OVA we’re going to talk about today is pretty simple. A young girl named Akko Kagari lives in a world where wizards and ordinary people live together in harmony (or so I assume). She lives in an ordinary family but her idol, Shiny Chariot, is a magician and she is then inspired to become one as well and she enters Little Witch Academia. And then, well, stuff happens?

Go for Broke: Level E

By , Filed in: Go For Broke

I didn’t even realize I hadn’t reviewed this before. I can’t believe myself sometimes, I even ended up reading the manga. (Which is licensed in France and I’m even thinking of buying it, finished series are great to buy, at least you know how much you will need for it.)

Anyway, today’s column will be about aliens, the outer space kind of aliens, because the hero of Level E is one. Everything starts when the prince of the Dogura planet, named Baka Ouji for convenience, crashes on Earth. Unfortunately for our planet and for the boy Yukitaka who has the honor of helping the prince, said prince is a beautiful blond troll who ran away from his planet.

Go for Broke: Beelzebub

I almost feel like apologizing for reviewing a 60-episode long series, which is usually a bit useless since a lot of courage is needed to start one of those. Thing is, as I’m the middle of a Precure craze, I figured I might as well start now so you can get used to it.

Beezlebub starts when Tatsumi Oga finds a strange man floating on the river. Suddenly the man splits open and from his belly a baby gets out. Unfortunately, this baby happens to be one of the son of the great Demon Lord. He came to this world in order to, one day, annihilate all human life, after being raised among them. Oga then finds himself having to care for and educate the baby. Continue Reading »

Go For Broke: Blood-C: The Last Dark

By , Filed in: Go For Broke

Coincidences exist. I swear I wasn’t let in in the Blood-C conspiracy you have experienced the past few days. I just wanted to review something I have recently watched. Problem is I have watched nothing but currently airing anime and movies spin-offs of anime I have already reviewed. So, since I didn’t actually watch Blood-C, The Last Dark seemed like the best choice.

If you’ve been following the last articles on this site and/or are familiar with the Blood franchise you might guess that this movie is about a young girl named Saya who fights off monsters who feed off humans.
