I would not put Jinrui wa Suitai Shimashita up high in the scale of the absurd or evocatively deep as many people do. As someone who indulges in visual novels, I know who the hell is Romeo Tanaka. He got the sexiest name in history and his writing tends to be in that realm: a playful tone on imaginative writing exploring strange themes. I doubt he wanted to say anything deep despite the satirical nature of Jintai; he seemed to be like a fairy from his works: someone who loves fun and fantasy. His illustrative writing is like a daydream really. When one reads Rewrite and Cross+Channel, one gets the feeling he knows what he’s dealing with is some tough issues. So why not take some fun out of it? Thus, his depiction of a world struck in Armageddon is anything but horrific: it’s peaceful, ridiculous, and romantic. There’s charm to this setting he has conjured up and I feel most people watching this work keep forgetting that.
